Crafting a Shield

Surprisingly, some players remain unaware of this essential item. Its late addition to Minecraft means many survived the early days without its protection, relying solely on evasion. Now, crafting a shield is straightforward, requiring minimal resources.

You'll need 6 wooden planks (easily crafted from logs) and 1 iron ingot (obtained by mining iron ore and smelting it in a furnace). Arrange the planks in a "Y" shape within the crafting grid, placing the iron ingot in the top-center slot.

Finding a Shield

While crafting is an option, shields can also be found as loot. Ironically, you'll likely need to face pillagers (without a shield!) to acquire one. The real prize? The ability to customize your shield with a unique banner.
