Do you recall Hytale? It all began in 2015 when Hypixel Studios launched the project—over a decade ago! Riot Games eventually acquired the studio in 2020, but sadly, they cancelled the game in June 2025.
Hytale is back under its original creators’ control. Hypixel co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme announced he repurchased Hytale from Riot Games, calling it an exciting new chapter for everyone involved.
The team is now fully independent and self-funded for the next decade. They’re switching back to the Legacy engine shown in the original trailer to focus on faster development and immediate playability.
No firm early access date has been set, but it’s coming soon—likely within days. The initial release will be PC-only, with other platforms (including mobile) arriving later.
Hytale blends sandbox creativity with RPG momentum. Players explore a procedurally generated world filled with dungeons, secrets, and creatures, then shape the environment block by block.
Modding is vital to Hytale’s longevity. Early access will feature robust content creation tools alongside server-side customization options.
Hytale needs community participation—playing early access, reporting bugs, providing feedback, building mods—to reach completion. Let’s hope the launch arrives soon!
