Get ready for another round of fatalities! The sequel to the 2021 Mortal Kombat reboot is officially on its way, and we've just gotten our first glimpse at a key addition to the cast: Karl Urban as Johnny Cage.
Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon unveiled a poster featuring Urban as the iconic Hollywood actor and Mortal Kombat fighter. The poster cleverly mimics a fictional Johnny Cage movie, complete with the over-the-top action we've come to expect.
Mortal Kombat 2 serves as a direct continuation of the 2021 film, reuniting some familiar faces: Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, and Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero. Joining them are several newcomers, including Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, and Damon Herriman as Quan Chi.

The first film focused on Cole Young's introduction to the Mortal Kombat universe and the epic rivalry between Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Plot details for the sequel remain under wraps, but with the vast lore of the video game series to draw from, possibilities are endless.
Unlike its predecessor, which debuted on HBO Max due to the pandemic, Mortal Kombat 2 will hit theaters on October 24, 2025. Our review of the first film awarded it a 7 out of 10, praising its "spectacular display of blood, guts, and effects-heavy martial arts battles."
