Netflix Stories Canceled, Remains Playable

Netflix has officially discontinued its interactive fiction games under the Netflix Stories banner, marking the conclusion of a brief foray into narrative gaming. While surprising given the franchise's solid player engagement, this decision aligns with Netflix Games' new strategic direction toward mobile party games, kids' titles, mainstream releases, and TV-compatible interactive experiences.

Why Did Netflix Stories Get Cancelled?

Initially reported by Variety, this move coincides with Netflix Games' broader restructuring. The platform will now prioritize different gaming verticals, though Boss Fight Entertainment—the studio behind Netflix Stories—will continue developing other projects, including the anticipated Squid Game: Unleashed.

Service Shutdown or Content Freeze?

Despite cancellation news, the existing Netflix Stories titles remain accessible. The franchise consistently ranked among Netflix Games' top performers, recently holding fourth place in the platform's engagement-based top 10 rankings.

The final installment, Love Is Blind: NYC, will complete its rollout, after which no new Netflix Stories content will be developed. This follows the abrupt cancellation of The Love Contract—an original romance title about an actress navigating Hollywood's fabricated relationships—which was slated for April 8th release before being axed.

While currently available titles like Love Is Blind, Emily in Paris, and Money Heist will stay playable, planned sequels including Outer Banks and Ginny & Georgia have been permanently shelved.

For interested players, existing Netflix Stories games remain accessible via the Google Play Store.
