Netflix Games' newest offering is a fresh take on the timeless classic, Minesweeper. Originally a Microsoft PC staple from the 90s (with an even earlier design), this iteration boasts enhanced graphics and a captivating world tour mode.
Unlike some of Netflix Games' more complex indie titles or show tie-ins, this Minesweeper is refreshingly straightforward. Many will already be familiar with its gameplay from other devices. In Minesweeper on Netflix, players traverse the globe, identifying and avoiding hidden explosives, unlocking new locations along the way.
The core gameplay remains true to the original: a grid-based puzzle where players must locate mines. Clicking a square reveals a number indicating adjacent mines. Players flag suspected mine locations, methodically clearing the board until all squares are either cleared or flagged.

While its simplicity might not immediately appeal to those accustomed to more casual games like Fruit Ninja or Candy Crush, Minesweeper's enduring popularity is undeniable. Even a quick refresher on the rules proved surprisingly engaging.
Will this be a game-changer that drives new subscriptions to Netflix's premium tier? Perhaps not. However, for existing subscribers who appreciate classic logic puzzles, Minesweeper adds another compelling reason to maintain their subscription.
