Nintendo Switch 2 Preorders Begin April 9

Nintendo has officially confirmed that preorders for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will begin on April 9, 2025 in the United States and April 8, 2025 in the UK. The console will be available globally starting June 5, 2025, and will retail at a suggested price of $449.99.

For fans looking to bundle their purchase, Nintendo is offering the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle at $499.99 in the US. This package includes the new system along with a digital download code for *Mario Kart World*, which launches alongside the console. If you'd prefer to buy the game separately later, be prepared to pay a steep $79.99—the standard price set by Nintendo.

“Nintendo Switch 2 represents the next evolution of home gaming—an experience designed to be enjoyed anywhere, anytime,” said Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa. “Based on eight years of innovation since the original Nintendo Switch launched, this system introduces new features that expand the possibilities of how we play. I believe the Nintendo Switch 2 will bring joy to even more people around the world.”

How to Secure Your Nintendo Switch 2 Preorder

If you're eager to get your hands on one of the first units, you can already register your interest via the My Nintendo Store. Registered users will receive email invitations to purchase on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority will be given to those who have an active Nintendo Switch Online membership for the past 12 months and at least 50 gameplay hours logged by April 2, 2025.

After priority invites are distributed, remaining registrants will be considered. Invitations are valid for 72 hours only and cannot be transferred. Each account is limited to one Nintendo Switch 2 console and one of each accessory.

Major retailers are also expected to open preorders on April 9, 2025 (US) and April 8 (UK), so it's wise to monitor multiple outlets if you want to increase your chances of securing a unit before stock runs out—especially considering how quickly high-demand products tend to disappear.
