Oscar Nominations 2025 Announced: Emilia Pérez, Wicked, and The Brutalist Among Top Nominees

The 97th Academy Awards nominations are in, and Emilia Pérez is the frontrunner with a record-breaking 13 nominations – the most ever for a non-English language film. Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang announced the nominees on January 23rd during a live stream on the Oscars YouTube channel.

Jacques Audiard's Spanish crime thriller, Emilia Pérez, received multiple nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director (Audiard himself), and Best Lead Actress for Karla Sofía Gascón. Wicked and The Brutalist closely followed with 10 nominations each, while Conclave and A Complete Unknown each secured eight.

Other Notable Nominations: Emilia Pérez also received nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Original Song (two nominations: "El Mal" and "Mi Camino"), Best Film Editing, Best International Feature Film, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Other films with multiple nominations include The Brutalist, Conclave, A Complete Unknown, and Wicked.

The 97th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The event will be broadcast live on ABC (U.S.), ITV (UK), and in over 200 territories globally. For the first time, it will also stream live on Hulu.
