In *Persona 5: The Phantom X*, you step into the role of a new protagonist, leading a fresh crew of Phantom Thieves through a stylized version of modern-day Tokyo. The game introduces new palaces and mementos, blending light social-simulation elements with the series' beloved dungeon crawling. It retains the signature turn-based combat and dual-life rhythm that fans adore, while also introducing a guild system and a PvE mode known as Velvet Trials. Familiar faces from the original Persona 5 also make appearances, adding a nostalgic touch to the experience.

The story begins with the protagonist waking up from a nightmare, finding themselves in a distorted version of reality. Along their journey, they encounter a talking owl named Lefaye and the iconic Velvet Room crew, including the unsettling long-nosed man and his assistants.
