Pokemon GO Event to Debut Gigantamax Pokemon

Key Highlights

  • Gigantamax Kingler makes its first appearance in Pokémon GO on February 1 during the Max Battle Day event.
  • Trainers can boost battle damage using Max Mushrooms.
  • Event perks feature increased Max Particle storage, exclusive Power Spot encounters, and extra XP bonuses.

Pokémon GO has officially announced the arrival of Gigantamax Kingler starting February 1. Last year, the game introduced one of the most anticipated features by players: Dynamax and Gigantamax forms. The development team has since been regularly updating the game with new creatures featuring these special transformations.

Gigantamax is an advanced version of Dynamax. Not only does it make Pokémon larger and stronger, but it also gives them a new look and unique moves known as G-Max Moves. Although the original Pokémon games include 32 Pokémon capable of Gigantamaxing, only six are available in Niantic’s mobile game so far. The last addition was Gigantamax Lapras, but that roster is set to grow soon with a newly confirmed event.

Gigantamax Kingler will debut on February 1 as part of Pokémon GO’s Max Battle Day. This limited-time event runs from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. For the first time, the Water-type Pokémon will appear in six-star Max Battles, giving trainers a chance to encounter its Shiny variant. To boost their teams, players can also use Max Mushrooms—a special item that temporarily increases damage dealt by Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon.
