The Pokémon TCG Pocket Mythical Island mini-expansion delivers 80 exciting new cards, including the highly anticipated Mew Ex! This expansion significantly impacts the game's meta, introducing powerful cards and enhancing existing strategies. Here are some of the must-have cards from the Mythical Island pack.
While a small expansion, Mythical Island introduces game-changing cards. From the powerful Mew Ex to the versatile Vaporeon, these cards can redefine existing archetypes or bolster existing decks. Let's explore each card in detail.
130 HP
Psyshot (1 Psy Energy): 20 damage.
Genome Hacking (3 Colorless Energy): Choose 1 of your opponent’s Active Pokémon’s attacks and use it as this attack.
Mew Ex is a standout Basic Pokémon. Its high HP, decent base attack, and the game-changing Genome Hacking ability make it incredibly versatile. It's easily incorporated into existing Mewtwo Ex decks alongside Gardevoir, or even into Colorless decks, adding strategic depth and adaptability.
120 HP
Wash Out (Ability): As often as you like during your turn, you may move a Water Energy from 1 of your Benched Water Pokémon to your Active Water Pokémon.
Wave Splash (1 Water, 2 Colorless Energy): 60 damage.
Vaporeon is poised to become a meta-defining card. Its Wash Out ability allows for efficient energy manipulation, significantly boosting the already strong Water decks, particularly those utilizing Misty's high-roll potential. This energy management makes Water-type strategies even more dominant.
100 HP
Fighting Tackle (3 Colorless Energy): If your opponent’s Active Pokémon is a Pokémon Ex, this attack does 80 more damage. 40+ damage.
Tauros, while requiring setup, delivers devastating attacks against Ex decks. The ability to inflict 120 damage on any Ex Pokémon makes it a significant threat, instantly crippling Pikachu Ex decks and posing a serious challenge to Charizard Ex.
120 HP
Gigashock (3 Lightning Energy): This attack also does 20 damage to each of your opponent’s Benched Pokémon. 60 damage.
Raichu further enhances the already powerful Pikachu Ex/Zebstrika decks. The additional 20 damage to each Benched Pokémon significantly disrupts strategies relying on slowly building up benched Pokémon. Its quick setup in Surge decks makes it a formidable addition.
During your opponent’s next turn, all of your Pokémon take -10 damage from attacks from your opponent’s Pokémon.
Blue, a new Trainer/Supporter card, provides crucial defensive capabilities. It counters the aggressive strategies employed by Blaine and Giovanni decks, significantly mitigating the damage from quick knockouts. Strategic use of Blue can significantly disrupt opponent plans.
