PUBG: Blindspot is an intriguing PUBG: Battlegrounds offshoot currently in development that made its playable debut at IGN Live. This 5v5 top-down tactical shooter features a classic team deathmatch that hooked us instantly - even amidst the convention chaos - and an upcoming Demolition mode requiring teams to strategically outmaneuver opponents using traps and environmental hazards. Early comparisons to a top-down Rainbow Six Siege are well-earned; success here demands both tactical thinking and sharp reflexes.
Set aside traditional FPS instincts - this is strategic PvP gameplay where positioning rivals reflexes in importance. The maps are meticulously designed with multiple sightlines through windows, doorways and corridors, transforming visibility management into core gameplay. While you can see the entire battlefield, enemies only appear within your field of vision or teammates' sightlines, making ambushes devastatingly effective.
Though not available for testing, Demolition Mode promises enhanced strategic depth compared to the 5v5 deathmatch. As Production Director Seungmyeong Yang explained at IGN Live: "Demolition Mode follows formats familiar from Counter-Strike and Valorant, with attacking and defending teams battling over site control." This asymmetric gameplay provides the strongest basis for those Rainbow Six Siege comparisons while offering fresh tactical possibilities through its unique top-down perspective.

The keyboard-and-mouse setup combines twin-stick shooter mechanics with tactical shooter precision. WASD handles movement while mouse controls view direction, with right-click enabling slower, precise aiming. This creates constant trade-offs between mobility and accurate fire. Advanced techniques include mouse-wheel adjustments for targeted shots at specific body areas - particularly useful against crouching enemies.
The current build offers 10 distinct operatives, each with specialized loadouts that significantly impact playstyle. Aggressive players might favor close-quarters specialists like shotgun-wielding Collision or explosives expert Kayak, while support-oriented teammates can choose medic Fanatic or reconnaissance specialist Buddy. Character designs offer additional appeal, like Dropdown's anarchic aesthetic that complements her toxic gas grenades.
While full release details remain unannounced, a PC beta is scheduled for August. Players can monitor updates via the game's official Steam page for testing opportunities and launch information.
