Repair Mastery: Breaking to Rebuild in Sims 4 Blast from the Past

by Nathan Feb 25,2025

The Sims 4's Blast from the Past event offers numerous rewards, but acquiring them presents challenges. One particularly tricky task involves breaking and repairing an object. This guide explains how.

Week 2's challenges require raising your Sim's Handiness skill to level 2 or higher. The subsequent task—repairing a broken object—proves problematic due to the game's lack of clear indication of broken items. The easiest solution is to deliberately break something.

While "pranking" an object works, it necessitates a specific Sim trait, adding unnecessary complexity. A simpler method involves repeatedly using an item until it breaks. The Ambassador toilet, being an inexpensive adult item, is ideal for this purpose. Repeated use (around a dozen times) will cause it to malfunction, fulfilling the broken object requirement. This can be done by your Sim or invited guests.

Repairing the broken item is straightforward once your Handiness skill reaches level 2. Simply select the "Repair" option on the broken object. This will take a few seconds, resolving the malfunction and completing the challenge.
