Samsung's latest SSD, the Samsung 990 Evo Plus 2TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe solid state drive, is now on sale at an unbeatable price. You can grab it for just $129.99, which is even lower than the Black Friday deals we saw last year. At this price, it's a steal, especially since it's $40 less than the Samsung 990 Pro, and most gamers won't even notice the performance difference between the two.

The Samsung 990 Evo Plus is a stellar choice for enhancing both your gaming PC and your PlayStation 5 console. It surpasses Sony's minimum speed requirements for the PS5, offering impressive sequential read speeds of up to 7,250MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,300MB/s. This drive outperforms the non-Pro version of the 990 Evo but falls just short of the 990 Pro's capabilities. The key distinction from the pricier 990 Pro is that the 990 Evo Plus is a DRAM-less drive. However, this doesn't impact PS5 performance at all. For gaming PCs, the 990 Evo Plus utilizes HMB (host memory buffer) to compensate for the lack of DRAM, using a negligible amount of your system's RAM. Rest assured, gamers won't notice any performance difference between the two models.
It's worth noting that the Samsung 990 Evo Plus does not come with a pre-installed heatsink. However, its newer single-sided design is both power-efficient and generates less heat compared to older SSDs. This means you likely won't need a heatsink for it to perform optimally in a PS5 without thermal throttling. If you prefer the added security of a heatsink, you can install one for an additional $7, but it's not necessary.
