Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Super Thin and Launched

by Isaac May 28,2025

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, introducing its latest flagship smartphone. While it shares many similarities with the earlier released Galaxy S25, the new model boasts a significantly thinner design, giving it a distinctive edge over its predecessor.

Spec-wise, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge closely mirrors the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and featuring a 200MP camera. The key difference lies in its chassis, which has been slimmed down to a mere 5.8mm, a notable reduction from the 8.2mm thickness of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This thinner profile also results in a lighter weight of just 163g, enhancing its portability.

The Galaxy S25 Edge maintains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the Galaxy S25, despite sharing nearly identical specifications with the slightly larger 6.9-inch Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Given its slim and large design, durability is a significant concern. Samsung addresses this by upgrading to the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which promises to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, the real test will be its resilience against everyday mishaps, such as being sat on in a pocket, raising questions about potential bending issues.

The Galaxy S25 Edge also includes the suite of "Mobile AI" tools introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 and further refined in 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset enables robust local AI processing, enhancing privacy by minimizing reliance on cloud services. Despite this, many AI applications still depend on cloud support. Samsung offers unique features like summarizing notifications and news articles, adding convenience for users.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are open today, with pricing starting at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB model. The phone is available in three color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung emphasizes the durability of this sleek device, and we can only hope it lives up to those claims.
