Sega Delays Sonic Rumble for New Update

by Ryan May 14,2025

Despite an exciting pre-launch crossover event featuring beloved Sega classics like Super Monkey Ball and Altered Beast, Sonic Rumble's global debut has been delayed. The multiplayer battle royale game, which had amassed over 1.4 million pre-registrations, is taking a step back to ensure a polished launch.

The delay coincides with the preparation of the version 1.2 update, which is set to enhance the toybox world created by Dr. Eggman with exciting new features. These include Rumble Rankings, Crews, and character Skills, all designed to enrich the gameplay experience. Rumble Rankings will introduce seasonal leaderboards where players can compete for rewards, while Crews will enable cooperative score missions with friends. The new Skills system will equip characters with unique abilities, adding a strategic layer to the game.

ytSega has chosen to delay the launch to perfect these additions rather than introducing them mid-release. Fans can look forward to a Q&A session on May 2nd on Discord, where they can learn more about upcoming developments and ask their questions directly.

While waiting for Sonic Rumble, you might want to explore other top battle royales available on iOS to keep the excitement going.

The delay won't affect the pre-registration rewards, which include 5,000 Rings, a Crystal Chao Buddy, the Happy Sticker, the Garnet Knuckles skin, and the exclusive Movie Sonic skin for reaching the 1.4 million pre-registration milestone. These rewards will be available when the game finally launches.
