Konami's Full Commitment to the Silent Hill Series

A Bold Declaration: Announcing Three Titles Simultaneously

Konami’s dedication to the Silent Hill series' future was made clear three years ago with the simultaneous announcement of several new titles. On October 17, 2025, Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto reiterated the studio's ambitious plans for the beloved horror franchise in a social media post.

In October 2022, Konami's "Silent Hill Transmission" livestream unveiled the Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill Townfall. According to Okamoto, the goal was not merely to release a remake but to signal to fans that the series had a robust and forward-looking future.

Okamoto explained, “We didn't want to just put out a single remake to 'test the waters.' We wanted players to understand our serious commitment to reviving the series.” He acknowledged the risks of developing a remake alongside a brand-new title, but emphasized that creating fresh content demonstrates the studio's genuine investment in the franchise's revival.

“Players won’t feel motivated to support an intellectual property unless they believe it has a future. If a company adopts a wait-and-see attitude, so will the audience. The company must demonstrate its serious intent for users to become authentically excited. That’s only fair to them,” he stated.

This strategic approach has proven successful. Both Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill f have been met with strong positive reception from the community. On Steam, Silent Hill 2 Remake boasts “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews, while Silent Hill f has earned “Very Positive” ratings.

Here at Game8, we awarded Silent Hill f a score of 96 out of 100, praising its masterful blend of the series' signature psychological horror with innovative new gameplay mechanics, elevating the franchise to new heights. For our complete analysis, check out our full review below.
