The popular mobile beat 'em up ARPG, King of Fighters ALLSTAR, is shutting down on October 30th, 2024. This announcement, made via Netmarble's official channels, comes as a surprise given the game's six-year run and numerous high-profile collaborations.
According to the developer, a contributing factor to the closure is the depletion of characters from the King of Fighters franchise suitable for adaptation into the game. While this is likely not the sole reason, it provides some context for the decision. In-app purchases have already been disabled.

This closure sadly reflects a growing trend in the mobile gaming industry, with many long-running live-service titles facing closure. It underscores the challenges of maintaining these games long-term, despite the overall popularity of mobile gaming.
