10-Minute Pre-Order Trailer Highlights New Characters and Gameplay

During the SXSW event, Kojima Productions and Sony announced that Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (DS2) will hit the shelves on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5. The panel, led by DS2 Director Hideo Kojima, kicked off with an engaging 10-minute trailer that delved into new story snippets and gameplay footage, reinforcing the game's theme of human connectivity in a post-apocalyptic setting.

Joining Kojima were PlayStation’s Global Content Communications Manager Kristen Zitan, and key actors from the game including Norman Reedus reprising his role as Sam Porter Bridges, Troy Baker, and French Music Director and Designer Woodkid. The trailer introduced a new character, Neil, portrayed by Luca Marinelli, who leads a mysterious faction. Fans were quick to notice Neil's resemblance to Solid Snake, especially due to his similar headband.

This observation was further validated by Hideo Kojima himself, who posted on Instagram in July 2020, noting that Marinelli, when wearing a bandana, looks remarkably like Solid Snake. This new faction, headed by Neil, is set to play a significant role in the narrative of Death Stranding 2.
