Kadokawa, now majority-owned by Sony Group, sets ambitious goal of 9,000 original IP publications annually. This represents a significant increase from their 2023 output and is detailed in their medium-term management plan, projecting 7,000 titles by fiscal year 2025.

This expansion is fueled by Sony's substantial investment and strategic partnership, leveraging Sony's global distribution network to broaden Kadokawa's international reach. To support this growth, Kadokawa plans to increase its editorial staff by 40%, aiming for approximately 1,000 employees.

Kadokawa President Takeshi Natsuno emphasizes a "media mix strategy," expanding IP utilization through anime and game adaptations. This diversification aims to maximize the potential of each IP and generate significant hits. The synergy with Sony's Crunchyroll platform is expected to significantly boost the visibility and distribution of Kadokawa's anime adaptations.

Kadokawa's extensive IP portfolio includes renowned titles such as Bungo Stray Dogs, Oshi no Ko, and The Rising of the Shield Hero, along with popular video game franchises like Elden Ring and Dragon Quest. This strong foundation provides a solid base for future expansion.

Sony's interest in expanding into the multimedia market aligns perfectly with Kadokawa's strategy, promising collaborations on live-action adaptations and international distribution. This partnership positions both companies for significant growth in the global entertainment landscape.
