Sony PlayStation State of Play Scheduled for Next Week

by Amelia May 14,2025

Sony is reportedly gearing up to unveil its much-anticipated February PlayStation State of Play next week. According to the reliable leaker NateTheHate, who correctly predicted the reveal date of Nintendo's Switch 2, Sony's showcase is slated for Valentine's Day week, spanning February 10 to 14.

Speculation is rife about what Sony might reveal during this event. A dive into Sony's lineup of first-party titles slated for 2025 offers some intriguing possibilities. Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei, with its 2025 release window, could be a prime candidate for a detailed gameplay reveal and a solid release date.

Bungie's PvP extraction shooter, Marathon, might also make an appearance, especially if it's gearing up for playtesting later this year. Haven Studios' debut game, Fairgames, is another title to watch out for. Naughty Dog's recently announced new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine are also on the horizon. A fresh trailer for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, scheduled for 2025, seems particularly likely.

However, don't expect to see the live service games Sony recently canceled. Last month, Sony axed two unannounced live-service projects from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games. The Bluepoint game was rumored to be a live-service God of War title, while details about Bend Studio's project remain under wraps. On the other hand, Guerrilla Games' live service Horizon project reportedly survived the cuts, hinting at a possible reveal.

Moving to third-party announcements, Kojima's Physint, an upcoming stealth-action PlayStation exclusive, might be a bit premature for a full reveal. However, Phantom Blade Zero, the action RPG from Chinese studio S-Game, seems a more probable inclusion.

Microsoft, now a major player on PlayStation platforms, could also make waves. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set to launch on PS5 soon, possibly warranting a release date announcement. There's even buzz about Microsoft potentially announcing Halo on PlayStation during the event.

Reflecting on last year's State of Play offers some context. It featured titles like Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, the Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic x Shadow Generations, various Silent Hill projects, Ken Levine's Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2.
