by Penelope May 17,2025

The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we mean the iconic quartet of Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has just announced the eagerly awaited Season 27, and it seems our beloved Colorado crew is tackling current events in their signature, barely coping style.

The cherished animated series released a captivating trailer for the upcoming season, masterfully tricking viewers into believing they were in for a dramatic new drama series. The trailer starts with intense editing and suspenseful music, setting an ominous tone... until Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley appear on screen. In a humorous twist, Randy asks Shelley if she’s been taking drugs, suggesting it might help her, all while sitting on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background.

South Park Season 27 Trailer ImageSouth Park Season 27 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025. After the initial gag, the trailer shifts back to showcasing intense action, hinting at several major plot points for the season. Expect to see plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being toppled, a P. Diddy cameo, and, unsurprisingly for South Park fans, another conflict with Canada. This last plotline might not come as a surprise if you've followed the series or seen the 1999 movie South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.

The teaser confirms that Season 27 will premiere on Comedy Central, over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has kept fans engaged with three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.

South Park marked its 25th anniversary in 2022, having first aired on Comedy Central in 1997 to immediate acclaim. As we approach Season 27, fans can look forward to more sharp satire and the unique humor that has defined the series for nearly three decades.
