Spider-Man 4 Gets Small Delay to Move Clear of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey

by Lucas Mar 21,2025

The highly anticipated next Tom Holland Spider-Man film has been pushed back a week, landing on July 31st, 2026, instead of its original July 24th release date. This strategic shift likely aims to provide more breathing room between the Spider-Man sequel and Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.

The revised release date places the Spider-Man film two weeks after The Odyssey, offering a more comfortable gap than the previously planned one-week separation. This is beneficial for both films, particularly considering Tom Holland's starring role in both projects. The extended timeframe allows for optimal IMAX releases, a preference known to be held by Christopher Nolan.

Marvel Studios officially confirmed a fourth Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland, slated as the next Marvel cinematic release following Avengers: Doomsday (May 1st, 2026). Destin Daniel Cretton, director of Shang-Chi, will helm this project, having previously been attached to the next Avengers film before storyline adjustments related to the Kang character. The Russo Brothers have since returned to direct Avengers: Doomsday, with Robert Downey Jr. surprisingly taking on the role of Doctor Doom.
