How to Unlock the Monster (Squid) Hunter Trophy/Achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds

While fishing might not be central to the main storyline, it provides a delightful diversion and its own set of quests. Mastering these will equip you with the necessary tools to pursue this trophy and achievement.

To begin, you'll need to progress through Kanya's fishing questline, which involves completing the following side quests:

Seeking the Goldenfish

Your first task is to catch the Goldenfish, which can be found in cave water pools. A good spot to try your luck is in the Scarlet Forest at Area 6. Use either the Golden Bughead or Common Wood Minnow as bait. The Fallow weather state increases the chances of the fish spawning.

Fishing for Favor

Next, you'll need to catch the Gravid Bowfin, which is found at the Scarlet Forest base camp during the Plenty weather condition. Equip the Emerald Jitterbait and cast your line to secure this catch.

The Catch of a Lifetime!

For this quest, you'll need to catch any large fish that requires the reeling minigame. Tuna is a popular choice, so head to the lake in Area 17 of the Scarlet Forest. Hook a big fish and reel it in with patience.

After completing these quests, Kanya will task you with the Razzle Dazzle quest, which is your opportunity to unlock the Monster (Squid) Hunter trophy or achievement. Here's what you need to do:

  • Travel to the Scarlet Forest, specifically Area 17. The weather must be Downpour in Inclemency. Use the grill to wait or rest at your camp to change the conditions.
  • Once conditions are met, go to the lake and walk into the deep end until you can't go further. Look for squids swimming around. If none appear, fast travel to another location and back to encourage spawning.
  • Equip the Tentacle Jig provided by Kanya and start fishing. While the quest requires catching the Grand Escunite, your target for the trophy and achievement is the Goliath Squid.
  • Keep an eye out for glowing blue shells. If you hook a squid and the reeling minigame begins, you're on the right track. Fight the creature, reeling it in when it tires. Once it's close enough to shore, pull it out to unlock the trophy or achievement.

That's everything you need to know about unlocking the Monster (Squid) Hunter trophy or achievement in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and guides, check out The Escapist.
