In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, pivotal choices significantly impact gameplay. The mission preceding "Just Like the Good Old Days" varies based on your decision in "Wishful Thinking." This main mission unlocks after completing either "To the Last Drop of Blood" or "Law and Order," both culminating in an escape from the SIRCAA.

Talk to Professor Lodochka at Wild Island

Begin by proceeding to the Wild Island mission marker, locating Professor Lodochka at Quite's Camp. Upon arrival, a higher-priority objective emerges: eliminating nearby mercenaries. Mission markers will highlight these enemies' positions, eliminating the need for searching.

Equipping superior gear is advisable, as further encounters await. Neutralize all enemies to proceed to Lodochka's location, triggering an optional objective: activating the ventilation system.

Activate the Ventilation System

To complete this optional task, consult your map. Locate and retrieve a fuse; your map will then indicate the engineering rooms to the north. Be prepared for an invisible enemy within.

Navigate the shelter's passageways to the engine room. Use the retrieved fuse to restore power to the ventilation system, paving the way for mission progression. While this objective offers no unique rewards, it simplifies subsequent steps.

Find the Source of the Signal

Before proceeding, consider acquiring better weaponry. The next objective leads to a cave entrance near the water. Navigate westward through the caverns, descending and overcoming various obstacles. A broken pipe provides access to higher cave levels.

Locate the large cone-shaped spire; the emitter is at the marked point beside it. An invisible enemy may ambush you on your exit. Finally, return to Lodochka to complete the mission, unlocking "Hornet's Nest" as the next main objective.
