Resident Evil's Mikami and Killer7's Suda51 Hint at a Possible Sequel and Remaster

During a recent Grasshopper Direct presentation focused on the upcoming Shadows of the Damned remaster, Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil creator) and Goichi "Suda51" Suda (Killer7 creator) fueled speculation about the future of the cult classic Killer7.

The conversation, which can be viewed in the embedded video below, touched upon the possibility of both a sequel and a complete edition of the 2005 action-adventure title.

Mikami openly expressed his desire for a Killer7 sequel, calling the original game a personal favorite. Suda51, mirroring Mikami's enthusiasm, hinted at the possibility, playfully suggesting titles like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."

Killer7, known for its distinctive blend of horror, mystery, and over-the-top violence, follows Harman Smith, a man with seven distinct personalities, each wielding unique abilities and weaponry. While the game boasts a dedicated fanbase, a sequel has remained elusive. Even after a 2018 PC remaster, Suda51 expressed interest in revisiting the original vision, suggesting a "Complete Edition" to restore cut content, specifically extensive dialogue for the character Coyote. Mikami, while playfully dismissing the Complete Edition as "lame," ultimately conceded that fans would likely appreciate it.

The discussion concluded with Suda51 stating the need to decide between prioritizing a "Killer7: Beyond" sequel or the Complete Edition. While no firm commitments were made, the creators' shared enthusiasm has ignited considerable excitement among fans eager for a return to the game's unique style and gameplay.
