Super Mario Party Jamboree Dominates Japanese Sales Charts

Super Mario Party Jamboree achieved remarkable success in Japan, claiming the top spot on the Nintendo sales charts for the week of December 30, 2024, to January 5, 2025. This follows its strong critical and commercial reception both domestically and internationally since its October 2024 launch.

The family-friendly multiplayer title outperformed numerous major releases to secure the number one position. Jamboree's innovative approach, featuring new game boards, modes, and characters alongside classic gameplay refinements, has resonated with both longtime fans and newcomers. The game's extensive character roster and inclusion of up to 20-player multiplayer modes have garnered significant praise. This Japanese success follows its earlier triumph in the US market, where it topped sales charts in October 2024.

Japanese gaming publication Famitsu reported Jamboree's impressive sales figures: 117,307 units sold during the specified week, bringing its total Japanese sales to 1,071,568 units. This victory placed it ahead of significant titles such as Mario & Luigi: Brothership and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Remarkably, Jamboree's weekly sales even surpassed those of several top-selling Nintendo Switch games, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The game's continued success will be closely watched, particularly in light of the anticipated announcement of the Switch's successor.

The enduring appeal of the Mario Party franchise is evident, with classic titles like the original Mario Party and Mario Party 2 enjoying renewed popularity through Nintendo Switch Online releases. As Super Mario Party Jamboree continues its impressive run, fans eagerly await future updates and milestones.
