Tides of Annihilation, drawing inspiration from Arthurian legend, casts players as Gwendolyn, a young woman battling alongside spectral knights to rescue her family and mend a fractured world.
The game unfolds in a ravaged, modern-day London, overrun by a mysterious otherworldly invasion. Players will confront hordes of enemies alongside their ghostly allies, engaging in intense combat against colossal, roaming knight-like creatures. Victory requires strategic combat, including scaling these massive foes for close-quarters battles.
While visually impressive, the game's familiar narrative based on the well-trodden King Arthur legend may hinder its appeal. Recent successful soulslike games have cleverly reimagined less familiar stories like "Journey to the West" and "Pinocchio," offering a refreshing twist. Unfortunately, Tides of Annihilation, despite its visual splendor, lacks a similarly unique and captivating narrative hook.
