The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to Rune Slayer

by Nathan May 07,2025

After two failed launches and months of anticipation, *Rune Slayer* has finally hit the scene, and it's nothing short of spectacular. Whether you're new to MMORPGs or a seasoned veteran, diving into *Rune Slayer* can be a thrilling yet overwhelming experience. Fear not, as we've crafted a comprehensive guide to help you navigate your journey through this captivating world.

Rune Slayer Beginner Tips

Here are some essential tips that would have made our initial foray into *Rune Slayer* much smoother:

Do not randomly attack other players

When *Rune Slayer* announced full-loot PvP, we braced for chaos. However, the reality is more forgiving. **Dying in *Rune Slayer* doesn’t result in losing your items**, even if it's at the hands of another player. You simply respawn and continue your adventure.

However, **attacking other players triggers a bounty system**. The more players you kill, the higher your bounty, and the more items you'll drop upon your next death. Thus, engaging in PvP can turn *Rune Slayer* into a high-stakes game. We recommend **avoiding player attacks** unless you're prepared for the consequences or have a group to back you up.

Craft Bags ASAP

You'll quickly notice that both your **bank and inventory space are limited**. With a mere 50-item capacity, your inventory fills up faster than you might expect. To manage this, **craft bags as soon as possible**. You can equip two bags simultaneously, starting with the **Cotton Bag**.

To craft a Cotton Bag, gather **Cotton from north of Wayshire and Flax from the south**. Be cautious of mobs in the southern areas. Each Cotton Bag adds an extra 10 slots to your inventory, so prioritize crafting these early on.

Your pets don’t actually die

There's a common misconception that your tamed pets die when their health hits zero. In reality, **a 'dead' pet can't be summoned for 5 minutes**. You can check this cooldown by holding **T**. After the cooldown, simply hold **T** again to resummon your pet.

For a quick pet heal, **store and unstore it at the stable master**. You get one free slot, so make use of it.

Grab all the Quests (Yes, all of them)

*Rune Slayer* is packed with quests, many of which are non-repeatable and often unremarkable. They typically involve tasks like "Kill 10 X". To manage these efficiently, **accept every quest you encounter**, including those from the Job board. Completing multiple quests simultaneously is far more efficient than tackling them one by one. You might even find yourself completing multiple quests with a single action.

Craft everything at least once (even things you don’t need)

While you should prioritize crafting what you need, **don't hesitate to use spare materials to craft items you might not immediately require**. Crafting new items often **unlocks more advanced crafting options**. For instance, smelting your first Iron Ore unlocked a range of new Iron Armor crafts for us. So, experiment with your materials to expand your crafting repertoire.

Join a Guild

Although *Rune Slayer* is solo-friendly, you'll eventually encounter **challenging enemies** designed for group combat. Joining a **guild** is the easiest way to find teammates for these encounters. Use the general chat or the official *Rune Slayer* Discord server to find a guild that suits your playstyle.

That's all you need to kickstart your adventure in *Rune Slayer*. Enjoy the game, and don't forget to check out the *Rune Slayer* Trello and Discord for more tips and community interaction.
