The South Meraung Village

In the heart of a dense, fog-laden forest, Agung and Arip embarked on a seemingly innocuous hike that would soon thrust them into a nightmare. Their path led them to the outskirts of a place whispered about only in hushed tones—The South Meraung Village.

Agung, always the more adventurous of the two, had ventured a little too far from the marked trail. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows that seemed to whisper secrets, Agung stumbled upon the entrance to the village. The air grew colder, and an eerie silence enveloped him. The village appeared abandoned, yet there was an unsettling feeling that he was being watched.

Back on the trail, Arip realized Agung was missing. Panic surged through him as he called out his friend's name, the sound swallowed by the oppressive quiet of the forest. Determined to find Agung, Arip followed the faint footprints that led him to The South Meraung Village.

As Arip entered the village, he noticed the dilapidated houses and overgrown paths. The village seemed frozen in time, untouched by the modern world. But something was off. The air was thick with a sense of dread, and the shadows seemed to shift and move as if alive.

Agung, meanwhile, had ventured deeper into the village. He found himself standing before an ancient, crumbling temple. Its doors were ajar, beckoning him inside. Ignoring the growing sense of unease, Agung stepped into the temple, and the doors slammed shut behind him.

Inside, the air was stifling, and the walls were adorned with strange, unsettling carvings depicting scenes of ritual and sacrifice. As Agung explored further, he heard a soft, haunting melody that seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere at once. The melody grew louder, and suddenly, the shadows around him took form—spectral figures with hollow eyes and outstretched hands reaching for him.

Outside, Arip heard Agung's distant scream. His heart pounding, Arip sprinted toward the temple, guided by the chilling sound. As he reached the temple, he found the doors sealed shut. Desperate, Arip pounded on the doors, calling out to Agung.

Inside, Agung was cornered by the spectral figures. Just as they were about to close in on him, Arip's voice pierced through the darkness. With a surge of adrenaline, Agung pushed past the figures and ran toward the sound of his friend's voice. The doors burst open, and Agung stumbled out into Arip's arms.

Together, they fled The South Meraung Village, the spectral figures' wails echoing behind them. As they emerged from the forest, the sun began to rise, casting light on their path. They never spoke of that night, but the memory of The South Meraung Village haunted their dreams, a reminder of the great danger they had narrowly escaped.
