Nico Papalia Unveils Goobie Garden: A Quirky Creature Collector Game

Indie developer Nico Papalia, known for Athenian Rhapsody, has revealed his next project called Goobie Garden. What began as a playful livestream experiment has evolved into a fully-fledged live-service mobile game that blends elements from beloved titles like Animal Crossing, Pokémon Go, and even a dash of Mario Kart.

From Stream Gag to Full-Fledged Adventure

At first glance, Goobie Garden appeared to be just another side project during Nico's streams. But as development progressed, the game transformed into something much more ambitious - a colorful, constantly evolving world packed with personality.

Meet the Goobies

These aren't your average digital pets. Goobie Garden introduces hilarious creatures with peculiar names, occupations, elemental traits, and distinct attitudes. Your job? Hatching, raising, and yes - occasionally giving them a friendly punch (totally not abusive, promise!).

Every interaction matters as you answer personality-shaping questions and guide their growth. Your choices directly influence how these oddballs evolve into their final forms.

Gameplay Features

The game brings back Thunder Goober from Athenian Rhapsody as your quirky guide, setting three main objectives:

  • Complete your ever-growing Goobiedex
  • Strengthen bonds to trigger unique evolutions
  • Assemble squads for competitive auto-battles

As a live-service title, Goobie Garden promises fresh monthly content including new creatures, customizable environments, seasonal events, and plenty of cosmetic goodies.

When Can You Play?

Mark these dates in your calendar:

  • August 2025: Closed beta (register via official website)
  • Q4 2025: Full launch (early signups get bonus rewards)

The developers also hint at future crossovers with Athenian Rhapsody and the upcoming Tales of Tuscany. While waiting, why not check out our latest coverage of Goat Simulator 3's wacky Multiverse of Nonsense update?
