"Beam On: Star Force Quest Promotes Virtual Band with Endless Flyer Game"

by Riley Apr 14,2025

Sometimes a new release comes around that, on its own, doesn't seem too exceptional. But then something pops up in my research that makes it stand out. This was the case with Beam On: A Star Forest Adventure, an endless flyer that initially appears to be just another entry in the genre. However, it turns out that Beam On is actually a promotional tool for the virtual band Star Forest!

If you're not familiar with Star Forest, think of them as a virtual band akin to Gorillaz, but without the virtual music creation aspect like Hatsune Miku. Beam On serves as a companion piece to Star Forest's latest music video, making it a unique promotional endeavor.

In terms of gameplay, Beam On blends the mechanics of Flappy Bird with elements of Jetpack Joyride. Players tap to rise and fall, navigating through obstacles, while a limited-use jetpack adds a layer of complexity to the flight. The design may not be groundbreaking, but the charming retro visuals and the band's music effectively introduce Star Forest to players.

Star Forest - Beam On GameplayStar Forest primarily targets a younger audience, which is reflected in the game's cutesy visuals and safe musical style. Yet, there might be a niche of adults interested in a Flappy Bird-like experience that isn't designed to drain their wallets. Beam On could appeal to those looking for something different in this genre.

Is Beam On a game-changer? It might not be, but it's certainly an innovative way to promote a virtual band. Now available on the iOS App Store, it showcases the genre well while serving its promotional purpose.
