The Darkside Detective Is This Week’s Free Mobile Game on the Epic Games Store

This week’s freebie on the Epic Games Mobile Store is here: The Darkside Detective.

You can play the game for free from December 4th to 11th, 2025. The giveaway is available on Android globally, so anyone with the mobile app can grab it and take a tour of Twin Lakes.

Created by game studio Spooky Doorway, The Darkside Detective is a comedy-driven point-and-click adventure. It was originally released for PC in July 2017 and later for consoles in 2018 and 2019. On mobile, it launched in 2024.

The Darkside Detective became a success due to its clever pop culture winks. Its world is built on the strange, the occult, and the delightfully illogical. The story is set in a city that’s very casual about supernatural disturbances.

You step into the shoes of Detective Francis McQueen, the man responsible for holding together the underfunded Darkside Division. His partner, Officer Patrick Dooley, completes the duo as they wander through diners, streets, and whatever dimensional cracks their cases drag them into.

Citizens barely notice the oddities lurking in their shadows, which leaves McQueen and Dooley to tap on everything. They interrogate the bizarre phenomena and try to survive whatever crawls out of sewers or alleyways. The game even pulls in literary icons like Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft.

On mobile, the game offers the complete Season One collection. It includes 9 paranormal bite-sized micro cases set across Twin Lakes City, plus a Christmas Spectacular Special. Oh, and you also get a free curse removal capable of handling mid-level witch hexes.

Usually costing $6.99 on Android, it’s a great chance to try the game out for free. Check it out on the app.
