Diablo III's annual "Fall of Tristram" event, slated to conclude on February 1st, has sparked player requests for an extension. However, community manager pezradar clarified that extending the event is currently infeasible due to its hard-coded nature, precluding server-side adjustments.
Pezradar also addressed the unexpected delay of Diablo IV Season 34, impacting player weekend plans. The delay, resulting from issues with the automatic season scheduler that prematurely ended Season 33 in early January, necessitates the creation and testing of new code to ensure smooth seasonal transitions and account data preservation. Pezradar acknowledged the need for improved early communication regarding such unforeseen circumstances.
Separately, Wolcen Studio announced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play action RPG incorporating extraction shooter mechanics. A closed alpha test commences January 25th in Europe, expanding to North America on February 1st. Game director Andrei Cirkulete described the game as a blend of extraction shooter tension and RPG combat dynamics, drawing comparisons to Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. The game casts players as Death's messengers, tasked with restoring order to a ravaged world.
