Captain America: Brave New World Set to Surpass $100M Domestic Box Office During Presidents Day Weekend

by Patrick Apr 10,2025

The latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, *Captain America: Brave New World*, has soared past initial box office projections, amassing an impressive $100 million domestically over the Presidents Day holiday weekend. According to box office revenue tracker Comscore, the film raked in an estimated $88.5 million across 4,105 theaters during the three-day period, with projections hitting the $100 million mark for the extended four-day weekend. Internationally, the movie added another $92.4 million, leading to a global weekend total of approximately $192.4 million.

With a reported production budget of $180 million, *Captain America: Brave New World* needs to reach a global box office of around $425 million to break even. Despite mixed reviews, the film has managed to secure the fourth-best Presidents Day launch on record, trailing behind other superhero blockbusters such as *Black Panther* ($242 million), *Deadpool* ($152 million), and *Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania* ($120 million).

Despite its strong box office performance, *Captain America: Brave New World* has received lukewarm critical reception. IGN's review scored the movie a 5/10, stating, "*Captain America: Brave New World feels neither brave, nor all that new, falling short of strong performances from Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, and Carl Lumbly.*"

The success of *Captain America: Brave New World* is pivotal for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has been facing challenges following a string of releases. Apart from the highly successful *Deadpool & Wolverine* from the previous year, the MCU is looking to regain momentum as it approaches upcoming releases like *Thunderbolts* in May and *The Fantastic Four: First Steps* in July.
