How to Capture Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

Slaying monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is thrilling, but capturing them to collect all their parts is a crucial skill. Here's your comprehensive guide on how to capture monsters in this exciting game.

Capturing Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

The art of capturing monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is straightforward yet requires precise timing. To start, you'll need to weaken the monster until it's vulnerable. Your trusty Palico will alert you when the monster is nearing its limit, but you can also watch for visual cues like a skull icon over the monster on your minimap or signs of fatigue such as limping or drooling.

Once the monster is sufficiently weakened, it's time to deploy your trap. Choose between a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap and strategically place it on the ground. Lure the weakened monster into the trap, and as soon as it's ensnared, you'll have a brief window to act. Quickly throw one or two Tranq Bombs at the immobilized monster to successfully capture it. Depending on your weapon and playstyle, you might also opt for Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades crafted from Tranq Bombs.

Successfully capturing a monster will conclude your quest and transport you back to Base Camp, ready to claim your rewards and monster parts.

How to Get Traps and Tranq Items

While your Palico may occasionally set traps for you, it's wise to bring your own into the field. There are two types of traps at your disposal: Pitfall Traps and Shock Traps. Crafting a Pitfall Trap requires a Trap Tool and either Spiderwebs or Ivy, while a Shock Trap needs a Trap Tool and a Thunderbug Capacitor.

For your Tranq items, you'll craft Tranq Bombs using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. These can then be combined with Throwing Knives to create Tranq Blades or with Normal Ammo to produce Tranq Ammo, giving you versatile options for capturing your prey.
