Choosing Your Faction: A Guide to Dynasty Warriors: Origins

by Gabriella Apr 01,2025

In the thrilling world of *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, you'll find yourself immersed in the chaos of ancient China, battling alongside legendary warlords. As you progress, a crucial decision awaits: choosing which faction to align with. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you navigate the faction selection process in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins Factions Explained

*Dynasty Warriors: Origins* unfolds across multiple chapters, with the initial two chapters allowing your character, the Wanderer, to remain neutral. During this time, you'll interact with the factions led by Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei, participating in pivotal events such as the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.

However, upon reaching Chapter 3, the game prompts you to make a pivotal decision by the chapter's end. By this point, you should have a good sense of which faction resonates with you, but if you're still undecided, the game offers additional battles to help you make an informed choice.

To advance, you must complete a specific number of missions for each faction. To ally with Sun Jian, you need to complete three battles; Liu Bei requires two, and Cao Cao demands just one. Once you fulfill the mission requirements for a faction, a new mission will unlock, compelling you to choose a side. For instance, if you complete Cao Cao's mission first, you'll be faced with a choice between him and Liu Bei, with the option to select Liu Bei unavailable if you haven't completed his missions. You can always go back and complete missions for all factions before making your final decision.

Once you make your choice, the faction you decide against will be locked out for the remainder of the game. This means you won't be able to undertake sidequests from their officers or increase your bond with them, potentially making your chosen path more challenging. For example, aligning with Liu Bei might limit your opportunities for skill points due to fewer commanding officers to interact with.

Each faction's route offers unique missions, so if you're eager to experience all that *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* has to offer, consider creating a separate save file before making your allegiance. This way, you can reload and explore different alliances.

That's how you select a faction in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*. The game is now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, ready for you to dive into the epic battles of ancient China.
