CoD: Warzone Lobbies Plagued by Crashes

Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still under development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.

Warzone's recent struggles continue a trend of challenges for developer Raven Software. Following a December 2024 server outage and ongoing issues with cheating and bugs, a new wave of loading screen crashes began in early January 2025. This prompted an investigation by Raven Software on January 6th.

Although the root cause remains unaddressed (as indicated on their Trello board), a crucial update was deployed on January 9th. This update temporarily suspends Skill Rating (SR) penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addresses player concerns over unjust penalties stemming from the unforeseen crashes. Penalties for mid-match disconnections remain in effect.

This temporary fix alleviates the immediate frustration, though a permanent solution is still awaited. The persistence of bugs, even after a major January 2025 update, underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the development team. The impact on Ranked play, regardless of the cause, is likely to continue causing player discontent. The Warzone team is actively working to resolve these issues.
