Complete KCD2's Under the Straw Hat Side Quest: A Guide

In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, certain quests require you to reach Kuttenberg before you can embark on them. Once there, you can freely travel between regions, opening up a new area for exploration. Here’s a detailed guide on how to complete the “Under the Straw Hat” quest.

How to Unlock ‘Under the Straw Hat’ in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

To start the “Under the Straw Hat” quest, you first need to initiate the “In Vino Veritas” side quest in Kuttenberg. Upon arrival, head to the west side of the city where Casper Rudolf is offering free wine samples. He needs your help to enhance his wine by gathering information.

You have two paths to gather the necessary knowledge. You can directly approach Havel to impress him with your wine expertise, or you can retrieve Casper’s book from Adleta and read it to gain more wine knowledge. If you choose to go straight to Havel, make sure you're dressed in fancy clothes and well-groomed; otherwise, he won’t entertain you. During your conversation with Havel, select “Germany,” “Steinberger,” and “It’s missing ginger” as your responses to extract the information you need. Once you have the details, return to Casper and share your findings.

Access the Vineyard

Next, Casper will ask you to infiltrate the vineyard north of Kuttenberg to gather information about the incense Havel mentioned. Trespassing in the fields is not advisable, so stick to the main road into the vineyard. There, speak with the recruiter who will give you the “Under the Straw Hat” side quest. Continue along the road, pass a guard at the estate entrance, and you'll eventually find Jerome sitting on a bench. Inform Jerome that you've been instructed to report there, and he'll brief you on working at the vineyard.

Working at the Vineyard

Your job at the vineyard starts the following day. After a night's rest, return to the vineyard in the morning. To earn a wage, you'll need to move sacks to their designated spots and pick plants like Thistle that grow around the vines. However, if you're solely focused on the secret incense, head directly to the wine cellar located downstairs in the main building where you met Jerome. Accessing the cellar requires either a lockpick or stealing the keys from Jerome.

In the cellar, locate a chest and take all the Sulphur Wicks inside to fulfill the main objective. For an additional reward, you can also collect seedlings for Casper. From the door where you enter the main building, go straight across to find the seedlings. Be swift, as this is another restricted area and you could be caught.

If you complete your assigned work, visit Jerome at the end of the day to receive your pay. Otherwise, return to Casper with the Sulphur Wicks and any seedlings you managed to collect.

Successfully completing these steps will allow you to finish both “Under the Straw Hat” and “In Vino Veritas” quests in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. From here, you can explore other side quests like “Master Schindel’s Toys.”
