A potential leak from GameStop suggests an upcoming Digimon game, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, may be unveiled during tonight's PlayStation State of Play. Gematsu uncovered pre-order listings for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions on the GameStop website, although details remain scarce.
The timing of this leak, just hours before Sony's 40-minute State of Play presentation, strongly hints at an official announcement. While Sony hasn't disclosed specifics, the possibility of a Digimon Story: Time Stranger reveal is high.
The Digimon Story franchise boasts a long history, starting with the original Nintendo DS title in the mid-2000s. Subsequent releases, including Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth (2015), Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory (2017), and their 2019 Complete Edition, have maintained the series' popularity. These RPGs typically feature players befriending and battling Digimon.
Despite producer Kazumashu Habu hinting at a new Story game in 2022, a new installment has been absent for some time. While titles like Digimon Survive provided a temporary fix, the anticipated sequel may finally arrive with the imminent reveal of Digimon Story: Time Stranger.
