The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, inspired by the acclaimed Dark and Darker, have officially announced the cessation of support for the game and the impending closure of its servers. Launched with much anticipation, Dungeonborne unfortunately struggled to maintain its player base over its brief lifespan of less than a year, primarily due to dwindling player activity and the absence of substantial updates.
While Dungeonborne's page remains visible on Steam, it has been removed from the platform's search results and is only accessible through a direct link. Although the developers have not explicitly stated the reasons for shutting down the game, it's evident that the critically low player engagement was a significant factor. Since the latter part of 2024, the game's concurrent player count hovered around a mere 200, plummeting to as few as 10-15 players in recent times.
The final chapter for Dungeonborne will be written on May 28, when its servers will be permanently closed, concluding the game's journey. Initially, Dungeonborne captured the attention of genre enthusiasts; however, it will now recede into obscurity without fulfilling its initial promise.
