Final Fantasy XVI director, Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P), has politely requested fans avoid creating or installing "offensive or inappropriate" mods for the PC version of the game, launching tomorrow.
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Yoshi-P addressed the modding community, urging them to refrain from creating content deemed "offensive or inappropriate." While PC Gamer inquired about potentially humorous mods, Yoshi-P prioritized the avoidance of harmful content. He stated a desire to keep the modding scene respectful, avoiding specifics to prevent unintended encouragement of potentially problematic creations.
Yoshi-P's experience with previous Final Fantasy titles likely exposed him to a range of mods, some falling outside acceptable boundaries. Modding communities, like Nexusmods and Steam Workshop, host a vast array of content, from graphical enhancements to cosmetic crossovers (e.g., the Half-Life costume mod for FFXV). However, NSFW and other offensive material also exists, and Yoshi-P's request likely targets such content. Examples include mods offering explicit character model replacements.
With Final Fantasy XVI's PC release boasting features like a 240fps frame rate cap and advanced upscaling, Yoshi-P aims to maintain a positive and respectful environment for all players. His request reflects a commitment to the game's overall tone and community experience.
