The excitement for the newly released GTA 6 trailer is palpable, and if you missed it, we've broken down all the secrets and details for you. Unfortunately, we'll need to wait until May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason's story. In the meantime, let's take a nostalgic trip down memory lane and rank the Rockstar games that have thrilled us over the years for fun!
Since its inception in 1998, Rockstar has crafted over 30 games, bringing us iconic series like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which one reigns supreme? Just to clarify, you won't see games like LA Noire or Max Payne 2 here, as we're focusing solely on titles developed by Rockstar, not just published. I've taken a shot at ranking these gems using an IGN Tier List, based on my personal enjoyment over the years. Check out my tier list:

Red Dead Redemption 2 easily claims the top spot in my S-tier; it's not just my favorite Rockstar game, but my favorite game period. It's joined by its predecessor and the groundbreaking GTA 5, both of which revolutionized the cinematic open world genre. I also have a soft spot for Max Payne 3's bullet time ballet and the nostalgia-filled GTA San Andreas, which I played when I was far too young. At the bottom, in the D-tier, sit games like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair! – titles that few would willingly revisit.
Disagree with my rankings? Think Vice City outshines GTA 4? Why not create your own tier list and compare your S, A, B, C, and D rankings with the IGN community?
With only two trailers out so far, where do you think GTA 6 will land on this list once it's released? Share your thoughts in the comments, and explain why you've ranked the games the way you have.
