Netflix Games is losing two classic Grand Theft Auto titles next month. Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto Vice City will be removed from the Netflix Games catalog on December 13th.
Why are these games leaving?
This isn't a surprise; Netflix licenses games like it does movies and shows. The 12-month licensing agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games for these two titles is expiring. A "Leaving Soon" label will appear on the games in the app before their removal.
What happens next?
Fans who haven't finished these games can purchase them individually or as part of a trilogy bundle on the Google Play Store. Each game costs $4.99, or the entire trilogy is available for $11.99.
Unlike some previous game removals, Netflix is providing advance notice. This is interesting, considering the GTA trilogy contributed significantly to Netflix Games' subscriber growth in 2023.
There are rumors that Rockstar and Netflix are collaborating on future projects, potentially bringing remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and Chinatown Wars to the platform. Let's hope this rumor proves accurate!
