In "For Whom the Bell Tolls," a main quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Hans requires your assistance at Trosky Castle. A crucial step involves creating a Fever Tonic. This guide details how to obtain the recipe and brew the tonic.

Locating the Fever Tonic Recipe

The Fever Tonic recipe resides within the Surgeon's Workshop in Trosky Castle. Access can be gained through stealth or diplomacy:

• Stealth: Discreetly enter the workshop.
• Diplomacy: Persuade the chamberlain you can create a digestive potion to alleviate his stomach ailment. Successful skill checks will grant you access to the workshop. Alternatively, complete "For Whom the Bell Tolls" objectives until delivering the horseshoe. Then, speak with Cook Fanka; offering help with her locked chest will lead you to the noble's kitchen and the ailing chamberlain. Convincing him of your medical abilities will unlock the workshop. Failing skill checks necessitates stealing food, using a different kitchen entrance (guarded), bribing the guard with the stolen food, and then sneaking upstairs.

Regardless of your method, the Surgeon's journal, containing the recipe, is located on a bookshelf in the workshop.

Brewing the Fever Tonic

The necessary herbs are already present on the surgeon's station. Follow these steps:

1. Pour wine into the cauldron.
2. Add 3 handfuls of Feverfew.
3. Lower the heat and boil for 2 turns of the sandglass.
4. Grind a handful of Elderberry Leaves.
5. Add the ground Elderberry Leaves.
6. Add 2 handfuls of Ginger.
7. Obtain a phial from the bottom-left shelf.
8. Distill the tonic using the Still.

Additional herbs are available in a chest within the room if needed.

Completing the Quest

After brewing the Fever Tonic, deliver it (along with the digestive potion, if created) to Thomas. If you haven't gained the chamberlain's trust, use the noble's kitchen to reach Thomas and his sister, Adele, in the chapel. Speak with Adele to conclude the quest.
