Hades-Inspired Roguelike Game Unveiled

by Savannah Jan 30,2025

Rogue Loops: A Hades-Inspired Roguelike with a Twist

The upcoming indie roguelike, Rogue Loops, is generating buzz with its striking resemblance to Hades, both in art style and core gameplay loop. However, Rogue Loops introduces a unique mechanic that sets it apart from the pack. While a release date hasn't been officially announced (currently slated for Q1 2025), a free demo is available on Steam, offering a sneak peek at the action.

The game features a familiar roguelike structure: a repeating dungeon with randomized loot and ability upgrades. The key differentiator lies in the ability upgrades themselves. Each upgrade comes with a distinct downside, significantly impacting gameplay strategy. This mechanic echoes the Chaos Gates in Hades, but in Rogue Loops, these "curses" are more pronounced and persistent, potentially lasting the entire playthrough.

Players find themselves trapped in a deadly time loop with their family, battling through five floors of increasingly challenging enemies and bosses. Each run unlocks procedurally generated upgrades, allowing for diverse character builds utilizing both buffs and debuffs.

While a precise release date remains elusive, the Steam page indicates a launch in the first quarter of 2025. Until then, players can explore the first floor via the free demo and dive into other similar titles like Dead Cells or Hades 2 to bridge the gap.
