Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 Leak Hints at Free 4-Star Character Selector

A recent leak suggests Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 will include a free 4-star character selector, potentially as part of a limited-time event. This selector would allow players to choose one of four characters: Qingque, Pela, Serval, or Asta.

This news is significant given the recent trend in Honkai: Star Rail towards releasing more 5-star characters than 4-star units. While some 4-stars, like Moze and Gallagher, have gained popularity, many require significant Eidolon investment to reach their full potential. Previous free selectors in Versions 2.1 and 2.7 helped players acquire these necessary Eidolons.

The leaked selector offers characters from the game's initial 1.0 cycle, including Asta, a character readily available early in the game. This further supports speculation that fewer new 4-star characters are planned for the near future, especially considering rumors that all upcoming characters from Amphoreus will be 5-star.

The four selectable characters – Qingque (Quantum, Erudition), Pela (Ice, Nihility), Serval (Lightning, Erudition), and Asta (Fire, Harmony) – are all purchasable in the in-game store. While Pela and Asta remain viable support units, Qingque and Serval have been largely outclassed by newer DPS characters.

The disparity between 5-star (nearly 40) and 4-star (23) characters is substantial, and with eight more 5-star characters expected from Amphoreus, plus two potential additions from the Fate/Stay Night crossover, the pool of new 4-star units for future selectors may be limited.

Despite this, Version 3.1 promises exciting additions, including the highly anticipated characters Herta and Aglaea in Version 3.0. To prepare players for these upcoming additions, Honkai: Star Rail recently released new redeem codes for Stellar Jades and materials. The leaked 4-star selector provides a welcome boost for players building their teams.
