The Chinese game developer miHoYo, along with its global subsidiary HoYoverse, has applied for a trademark named "Honkai Nexus Anima". While details about this new intellectual property are scarce, the name hints at it being the third installment in the Honkai series, following Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai Star Rail.

The trademark application for Honkai Nexus Anima was initially spotted on the Korea Intellectual Property Information Search’s (KIPRIS) website but was later removed. However, the U.S. trademark remains listed on the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) website.

The Honkai series began with Honkai Impact 3rd, a free-to-play mobile action RPG considered the spiritual successor to Houkai Gakuen 2, a classic 2D side-scrolling shooter. Subsequently, Honkai Star Rail was launched in 2023, another free-to-play mobile game but with turn-based gameplay.
