Once Human sits pretty at 230,000 peak player count, but it\'s still a long way out from mobile

NetEase's post-apocalyptic survival game, Once Human, launched on PC with a peak concurrent player count of 230,000 on Steam, securing a notable position in both top sellers and most-played lists. Despite this initial success, the game's mobile release, originally planned for September, has been delayed. This delay, coupled with the peak player count, suggests a potential player drop-off.

The PC version features a compelling open-world setting with supernatural elements. Upcoming updates include a PvP mode pitting the Mayflies and Rosetta factions against each other, and a new PvE area in a northern mountain region introducing fresh enemies and challenges.

A Cautious Outlook? The 230,000 player peak is a significant number, but it represents the highest concurrent player count, not the average. A decline from this peak shortly after launch could be concerning, especially given the game's initial Steam wishlist count of over 300,000. NetEase, known for its mobile game successes, is making a considerable push into the PC market. While Once Human boasts impressive graphics and gameplay, a rapid shift in their core audience may prove challenging.
