Insomniac Games, the creative force behind the beloved Ratchet and Clank series, is exploring the possibility of transforming more of their iconic games into cinematic experiences. This exciting news comes from co-Studio Head Ryan Schneider, who expressed the studio's enthusiasm during a recent interview with Variety. This announcement coincides with the retirement of Insomniac's founder and long-time CEO, Ted Price.

In the wake of their 2016 Ratchet and Clank film, which received mixed reviews, Insomniac Games remains eager to delve deeper into game-to-screen adaptations. "I think back to the Ratchet and Clank film from several years ago. And we kind of got an early start on that. So, of course, we’re interested in that kind of thing. We love Ratchet and Clank in particular," Schneider remarked. With their acquisition by Sony in 2019, Insomniac is poised to leverage Sony's proven track record in successfully adapting games into film and TV, notably with the critically acclaimed The Last of Us series.

Sony's portfolio of game adaptations continues to grow, showcasing their prowess in bringing video game narratives to life on screen. Following the successes of the Uncharted film in 2022 and The Last of Us TV series in 2023, Sony announced further projects at the CES 2025 press conference. Fans can look forward to The Last of Us Season 2, set to premiere on HBO in April 2025, and an Until Dawn live-action film, also slated for April 2025. Additionally, a Ghost of Tsushima Legends anime series is scheduled for release on Crunchyroll in 2027, while Helldivers and Horizon Zero Dawn are being developed into feature films, though their release dates remain undisclosed.

As Insomniac Games charts its course into new ventures, the studio bids farewell to its founder and CEO, Ted Price, who announced his retirement after an illustrious 30-year career. Price, the visionary behind classics like "Spyro the Dragon," "Ratchet & Clank," and "Marvel’s Spider-Man," stated, "I actually made this decision last year. For me, after over 30 years of leading Insomniac, I felt it was simply time to step aside and let others pave the way for our team."
Taking the helm are three seasoned Insomniac veterans: Ryan Schneider, Chad Dezern, and Jen Huang, who will serve as Co-Studio Heads. Price expressed his confidence in the new leadership, saying, "I believe strongly that for us to continue our success, we need leaders at the top who are intimately familiar with how we do things, leaders who have helped build our culture and our processes, and who have earned people’s trust."
