Insomniac's Resistance 4 Pitch Rejected

by Zoe Apr 24,2025

In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Insomniac Games' founder and outgoing president, Ted Price, revealed a fascinating tidbit about a project that never saw the light of day: Resistance 4. As Price steps away from his leadership role after 30 years at the helm, he shared insights into the game that could have been.

"Yeah, I’ll share one. Resistance 4," Price disclosed, expressing the team's enthusiasm for extending the narrative of the beloved series. He explained that despite a compelling pitch and a "wonderful concept," the project didn't align with the timing and market opportunities at the time. Price highlighted the potential of the Resistance universe, noting its unique alternate history setting and the intriguing possibilities surrounding the Chimera's origins and future.

The Resistance franchise, developed by Insomniac Games, comprises three first-person shooter titles released for the PlayStation 3. The series, set in an alternate history where aliens invade the UK in 1951, followed Insomniac's successful run with the Ratchet and Clank series. After the third installment, Insomniac shifted focus to other high-profile projects, including Marvel’s Spider-Man and new iterations of Ratchet and Clank.

Earlier this year, Ted Price announced his retirement from Insomniac Games, marking the end of an era. He has appointed Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang as Co-Studio Heads to lead the studio forward. Insomniac's latest release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, has recently become available on PC, and the studio is currently working on Marvel’s Wolverine, their next anticipated title.
